New this year: Shuttle bus service
05:00 AM, Jun 16, 2013
The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, whose record 187,000 attendees last year led to some dicy parking issues, has announced free shuttle bus service, with stops set up near city parking garages.
Four of the six shuttle stops will run daily at the event from June 21 to 29:
State Street and Church Street, across from Rochester Plaza Hotel and by the Sister Cities Parking Garage.
South Avenue between Broad and Court streets by the South Avenue Parking Garage.
South Clinton Avenue at Woodbury Street, near Geva Theatre and by the Washington Square Parking Garage.
Andrews Street and Liberty Pole Way, near the Harro East and Abilene club pass venues.
Two other stops are open only on the stated dates:
The roundabout at Broadway and Broad streets, near Manhattan Square Park (June 21, 22, 28 and 29 only).
Chestnut and East Main streets (June 23 through 27 only).
The buses will run from 5 to 11:30 p.m. on a loop that should bring them to each stop once every 15 minutes. For more, go to rochesterjazz.com.
Parking costs vary by garage. The closest to the festival, the East End Garage, charges $5 for special-event parking. There are some surface lots available around the festival site, but read the signs. Towing is enforced. Also, bring cash, because some lots charge.
