RAPA has reached an agreement with the Eastman Kodak company to operate the Eastman Business Park’s Theater on the Ridge.

The infrequently used venue in Bldg. 28, at West Ridge Road and Lake Avenue, seats 1,964 people and includes large conference rooms, dining rooms and rehearsal spaces.

Rochester Association of Performing Arts plans a multi-function entertainment, conference and education center available to local theater and arts organizations. RAPA also plans on running the production aspects of the facility for producers bringing national shows to Rochester, Kodak says.

The venue, which will get a new name, already has some events to be announced later this month.

RAPA President and Chief Executive Officer James Vollertsen said in the announcement that his organization is working with the Hillside Family of Agencies to create job-training experience and employment for local at-risk youth. Calls for further details were not returned.

RAPA will keep its facility on East Main Street, where it has a theater and music school and theater, active as well.
