One-tank trip: Rockwell Museum of Western Art in Corning

From Rochester: About 100 miles. A 1½- to 2-hour drive.
Attraction: The Rockwell Museum of Western Art, 111 Cedar St.. The “National Geographic Greatest Photographs of the American West” exhibit closes Sept. 15. The collection of iconic Western images has been gathered by National Geographic over a span of 125 years.
Hours and admission: The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (9 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Labor Day). It’s closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Admission is $8; $7 for seniors and college students with ID; free for ages 19 and younger.
Directions: Head south on Interstate 390 to the Southern Tier Expressway (I-86). Head east on I-86 to Corning, exit at Center Way Drive (Route 414), then head south, crossing the Brisco Bridge. Center Way Drive becomes Cedar Street.
