From Rochester: 75 to 80 miles. About a 1½-hour drive.

Attraction: Celebrate the holidays with a Lights on the Lake Tour through Jan. 12 at Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool, Onondaga County. It’s a two-mile drive-through show filled with towering, illuminated arches and animated scenes. Themes include a Twinkling Fantasy Forest, the Land of Oz, a Victorian Village, Santa’s Workshop, Wide World of Sports, Under the Sea, Holiday Traditions and a Fairytale Magic grand finale.

Hours and admission: The holiday display is lit from 5 to 10 p.m. daily through Jan. 12. Admission is $15 per car; $10 Monday through Thursday. Mini-bus fees are $24; $75 for motorcoach. Please note: The drive-through portion of Lights on the Lake will be closed to vehicles on Dec. 31. Visitors may walk through the light displays from 5 p.m. to midnight as part of First Night CNY (go to firstnightcny.com).

Getting there: Take the New York state Thruway (Interstate 90) east to Exit 38; turn right onto Route 57 to Liverpool. Proceed on Route 370 East (Onondaga Lake Parkway) to the park entrance.
