Beam them down, Scottie — there are sci-tech awards to be given out.

Chris Pine, who plays Captain Kirk in the new generation of Star Trek movies, and Zoe Saldana (Star Trek’s Uhura), will host the Academy of Arts and Sciences’ Scientific and Technical Awards on Feb. 9.

The Trek stars will present nine of the 25 individual awards for film achievement in science and technology.

We are thrilled to have Chris and Zoe,” said Academy President Hawk Koch in a statement Wednesday. “Their film experience with the kind of technical advancements these awards honor makes them the perfect pair for the job.”

They are also not hard on the eyes and handy in case of a surprise Klingon attack.

Portions of the sci-tech awards will be shown at the Academy Awards on Feb. 24. Star Trek Into Darkness, directed by J.J. Abrams, will be released May 17.
