It looks like Tony Stark may not need the Avengers this time around — he’s got a whole crew of armored warriors.

The genius inventor and armor-clad superhero gets put through his paces in a new trailer out today for Iron Man 3, the third solo film with Robert Downey Jr. as the title Marvel Comics do-gooder. But he also unleashes a whole slew of other Iron Men to help take down international multi-ringed ne’er-do-well the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), a global threat who blows up Stark’s Malibu estate and home to his vast weaponry.

The villain isn’t the only thing plaguing Tony Stark, though. Self-doubt comes into play, too, as he worries about the world’s safety.

In addition to his new crew, he has returning allies, although no Captain America or Thor like in The Avengers — instead, there’s love interest Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Jim Rhodes (Don Cheadle), who’s traded in his War Machine armor for the red, white and blue duds of the Iron Patriot.

Directed by Shane Black, Iron Man 3 arrives in theaters May 3.
