Chris Evans is back in the Captain America suit.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier has begun shooting in Los Angeles, according to a Monday news release from Disney studios.
The second Captain America film will focus on Evans’ all-American superhero who had a solo venture in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger and was part of the superhero ensemble cast in 2012’s The Avengers.
The Winter Soldier will be released April 4, 2014.
The film will follow Steve Rogers/Captain America as he continues to adjust to the modern world after being discovered, frozen in time, after a World War II plane crash.
He won’t be alone. Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow will be fighting by his side along with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). The film will also introduce Robert Redford as Agent Alexander Pierce, a senior leader within the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization.
The Marvel comic book of the same name had Captain America’s former pal Bucky Barnes (played by Sebastian Stan in the first movie) as the main villain, known as the Winter Soldier. But the Disney release calls the movie’s foe simply “a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.”
Besides Los Angeles, other shooting locations include Cleveland and Washington. The brother team of Anthony and Joe Russo will direct the film.
