As an alternative, critic Jack Garner recommends:
KIDS!! A SATURDAY AFTERNOON WESTERN ROUNDUP. This two DVD set offers a delightful range of the sort of TV shows enjoyed by those of us who grew up in the ’50s. Most of the early Saturday TV programming for children was from the Westerns that had already dominated matinee screenings on neighborhood theater screenings. So, in this collection you’ll find episodes of The Lone Ranger, with Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels (an actor with ties to the Rochester area); The Range Rider, with Jock Mahoney; The Rifleman, with Chuck Connors (who played professional sports in Rochester); The Roy Rogers Show; Annie Oakley (with Gail Davis); The Adventures of Kit Carson, with Bill Williams); and two of my personal favorites, The Cisco Kid (with Duncan Renaldo and Leo Carrillo) and Sergeant Preston of the Yukon, with his faithful dog, King. (“On King, on ye huskies!”) One true rarity, an episode of Sky King, is on the slate, as well.
Cast: Moore, Silverheels, Roy Rogers, Renaldo.
Jack’s rating: 8.

The Bible: The Epic Miniseries, Hello Dolly!, That Thing You Do!, John Dies at the End, Papua 3D The Secret Island of the Cannibals (Blu-ray 3-D and 2-D), Highway Patrol: Seasons 2, 3, and 4, Hemingway & Gellhorn.
