LAS VEGAS — First Brad Pitt, now Johnny Depp.

After Pitt kicked off CinemaCon with a surprise appearance Monday in support of his World War Z, Depp took the stage Wednesday before thousands of theater owners to promote Disney’s The Lone Ranger (out July 3).

Depp was joined by co-star Armie Hammer, director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer to hawk one of summer’s bigger spectacles, with a budget estimated at $220 million.

It will also feature some of the bigger stars, literally. Hammer, who stands 6-foot-5, made his co-stars look similarly imposing, Depp says.

Armie is very tall,” Depp joked before unveiling 20 minutes of footage. “Which means we aren’t short.”
