Focus Features International says it has gotten the greenlight to move forward on a documentary about Amy Winehouse, who died at age 27 in London.

AP reports the Winehouse family said in a statement Thursday that it had been approached with many documentary proposals, but Senna director Asif Kapadia and producer James Gay-Rees presented a vision that would “look at Amy’s story sensitively, honestly and without sensationalizing her.”

The 2010 film Senna focused on the life of Brazilian F1 driver Ayrton Senna. The champion racer was killed in an accident in 1994.

This is an incredibly modern, emotional and relevant film that has the power to capture the zeitgeist and shine a light on the world we live in in a way that very few films can,” said Kapadia and Gay-Rees in a statement, reports Billboard.
