Coming soon: 'And Now a Word from Our Sponsor'

Have you heard the one about the ad exec who only spoke in advertising slogans?
It sounds like the start of a joke or a scene from Mad Men, but it’s actually the premise of a new indie, appropriately titled And Now a Word from Our Sponsor.
Parker Posey, Bruce Greenwood and Callum Blue star, and considering Posey’s spate of good work lately (including Louie and the indie flick Price Check), I’m curious.
Greenwood plays the CEO of a big ad firm who has an accident, wakes up in a hospital and surprise! can only speak in slogans. The trailer is kind of like a pop quiz; see if you can name all the commercials he quotes:
Admittedly, filling a character’s dialogue with lines like “You can learn a lot from a dummy,” “Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids” and “You deserve a break today” could get irritating. However, depending on how it’s written, it also could make for a pretty fun film.
And Now a Word from Our Sponsor goes on demand May 6 and opens in limited release May 10. (By the way, does this concept remind anyone else of Splash? I keep thinking of the scene when Daryl Hannah learns to speak English by watching TV …)
