CANNES, France — Nicole Kidman is on her own in her first film judging stint at the Cannes Film Festival.

Even husband/American Idoljudge Keith Urban didn’t offer any tips he may have picked up from his season on the Fox show.

He’s not given me any advice,” Kidman said with a laugh during a news conference introducing the jury at the festival on Wednesday.

Kidman did say that Urban will join her here in the French Riviera once his duties are completed on Idol this week.

It’s strange we’re back-to-back doing this,” Kidman noted of the dual judging roles. “But at the same time, we both love what we do and we’re huge fans of what we do. That’s something that’s encouraged me.”

Kidman is part of a star-studded panel that includes jury president Steven Spielberg, director Ang Lee and actor Christoph Waltz and will assess entries for the film competition running through May 26.

I’ve known Steven a long time, and I never got to spend two whole weeks with him,” Kidman said. “So I am really looking forward to this.”
