Why did J.D. Salinger stop publishing after 1965?
This question is, and will remain, one of the greatest literary mysteries. Despite penning Catcher in the Rye, Nine Stories and other works that moved millions, the author spent the last half of his life living reclusively.
A new documentary examines the questions surrounding Salinger’s life and career. Directed by Shane Salerno, Salinger features commentary from Tom Wolfe, John Cusack, Martin Sheen, Edward Norton and other notable fans.
A trailer just arrived, and it looks interesting:
I reread Catcher in the Rye not long ago, and I discovered even more to appreciate. If it’s been awhile since you’ve read his work, I suggest you do the same.
Salinger opens Sept. 6.
