The most famous line from the 1982 horror film Poltergeist was, “They’re here.” It seems “They’re back” will serve for 2013.

The classic film, which starred Craig T. Nelson fighting to save his daughter from an angry spirit, is being remade, MGM studios and Fox 2000 Pictures announced on Thursday.

Production for the new Poltergeist will begin in the fall for a 2014 release.

They’re back” was a line used in the 1986 sequel Poltergeist II: The Other Side.

In the revisionist take, a family struggling to make ends meet relocates to an outdated suburban home. They are confronted by an angry spirit who kidnaps their youngest daughter. The family is forced to come together to save their daughter from the spirit’s clutches.

It’s a similar story to that in the 1982 film, which was was co-written and produced by Steven Spielberg.

Gil Kenan (Monster House) is set to direct from a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, David Lindsay-Abaire with Sam Raimi serving as one of the producers.
