Fans of True Blood and/or superhero flicks will get a kick of out of a new short film that stars Ryan Kwanten as a man who isn’t exactly who he seems.

Directed by Joe Lynch (Knights of Badassdom) and produced by Adi Shankar (Killing Them Softly, The Grey) Truth in Journalism follows a confident journalist (Kwanten) in 1980s New York. It’s told from the perspective of a French documentary crew, hence the black-and-white footage and French subtitles.

What you also need to know is that the film is an unauthorized tale about a popular character in the Marvel comic-book universe. Personally, I feel it’s more fun to watch the movie if you don’t know the big reveal at the end. The character is recognizable enough that if you’ve seen a few comic-book movies, you should know who he is.

The short lasts about 17 minutes:

If you still didn’t recognize the character, read this. Shankar discusses the movie in this recent interview. (And by the way, Kwanten, an Australian, is quite a master of American accents!)
