Wish I'd been there: Waters, Depp attend Ramone tribute

Previously I wrote about how I’d love to attend this year’s annual Johnny Ramone Tribute at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and that was before I knew Johnny Depp would be there.
Depp was a surprise guest at Sunday’s ninth annual celebration, hosted by director John Waters. Attendees were treated to a screening of Waters’ 1990 movie, Cry-Baby, followed by a Q&A with Waters, Depp and other stars of the movie, including Ricki Lake, Traci Lords and former Warhol superstar Joe Dallesandro. (Earlier this year the film’s female lead, Amy Locane, was sent to prison for vehicular homicide.)
Below is a pic of the gang; remember how scandalous it was that Lords, a former porn star, was cast in a mainstream film?
And here’s Waters at the event. Johnny’s widow, Linda Ramone, said the evening “was something Johnny would have loved.”
Here are Linda Ramone and Waters by the Johnny Ramone Memorial Statue at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Other attendees included the Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones, Dita Von Teese and Shepard Fairey.
If you’ve never seen Cry-Baby, by all means, do yourself a favor. It’s a classic!
