Hollywood’s fancy turns to love this fall. Or at least physicality. Massage therapists, sex addicts and porn junkies populate theaters this autumn as the industry gets more adult-themed. USA TODAY’s Scott Bowles and Bryan Alexander look at some of the films opening in September and October. (Release dates are subject to studio calendar changes.)

Sept. 6

Hell Baby

Plot: A haunted New Orleans house attracts an expectant couple who will soon need the Vatican’s top exorcist to save them from a possessed baby.

Riddick

Plot: Our intrepid intergalactic fugitive has been betrayed by his people and abandoned on a desolate planet, where bounty hunters from across the galaxy will plot their revenge.

Salinger

Plot: This documentary looks at the life of the secretive author through interviews with friends, war buddies and his legion of zealous fans.

Touchy Feely

Plot: Work becomes unbearable when a massage therapist discovers she’s averse to bodily contact. Meanwhile, her brother’s failing dental practice leaves him practicing her craft.

Blue Caprice

The Family

Insidious: Chapter 2

Plot: The Lamberts return, still struggling with the spirit world, this time looking to discover the mysterious childhood secret that haunts the family.

Jayne Mansfield’s Car

Director: Billy Bob Thornton

Plot: Thornton returns to the director’s chair for a look at two different families brought together in 1969 by the sudden death of a wife and mother.

Prisoners

Plot: The young little daughter of carpenter dad Keller Dover (Jackman) is kidnapped. When a detective (Gyllenhaal) has trouble finding the culprit, Keller takes matters into his own hands and captures the young man (Paul Dano) whom he thinks is responsible.

Battle of the Year
