Even sweet old ladies are not immune to the prankster shenanigans of Johnny Knoxville.
In one of the most irreverent scenes in the comedy Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, Knoxville’s 86-year-old character Irving Zisman knocks over his wife’s coffin and the dead body spills out during a faux funeral, frightening onlookers just one of many jokes pulled on unsuspecting folks by the king of Jackass.
As part of its bonus features, the Bad Grandpa Blu-ray and DVD release (out Tuesday) goes behind the scenes of the prank, starting with associate producer Knate Gwaltney bringing in a choir and recruiting random people around the funeral home to help mourn “a close relative” of his that died.
However, what producers also have to think about when pulling such a stunt in addition to having it work is also having the victims of the prank be OK with it enough to sign a release form afterward so they can use the footage.
Some of the most priceless moments are seeing the faces of the people after first assistant director Joe Osborne explains that the whole thing was a joke. Some are amused, others not so much, and one poor woman has to sit down due to all the hubbub.
The extras on the home-video release also take a look at seven other pranks in Bad Grandpa which centers on Irving and his precocious grandson (Jackson Nicoll) plus a series of alternate reactions from real people and three deleted scenes.
