New Year’s celebrations allow you to reminisce fondly on the past year, while looking forward to what the coming year has in store. But while you’re looking back and ahead, don’t forget to stay present this New Year’s Eve and enjoy every moment of your night and the company you keep.

We’ve compiled a list of New Year’s happenings around the city to get you in a celebratory mood.

New Year’s Eve Party at One Nightclub and Ultra Lounge

This 21-and-older event will begin with free hors d’oeuvres at 9 p.m. and music bumping by 10 p.m., courtesy of DJ Kalifornia in the Ultra Lounge and Richie Salvaggio upstairs. Free glow sticks, noisemakers and party favors will be available to the first 200 people in the door. Watch the ball drop at midnight and again at 3 a.m. (West Coast New Year’s) on One’s 40-foot screen. There will be a balloon drop with balloons full of goodies, and the bar will serve until 4 a.m.

Cost: Free before 10 p.m.; $10 after 10 p.m.

New Year’s Eve at Tilt Nightclub & Ultralounge

If you’re looking for a New Year’s Eve filled with glitz, shine and glamour, the performers at Tilt know just how to bring it. The event will feature drag performances by DeeDee Dubois, Samantha Vega and Miss Delicious, with DJs in the dance club and the courtyard. Enjoy free party favors, a free champagne toast at midnight and a bar that’s open until 4 a.m.

When: 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Monday.

Cost: $10 for ages 21 and older; $20 ages 20 and younger.

The Buddhahood and SubSoil — New Year’s Eve Bash at Lovin’ Cup

Local bands The Buddhahood and Subsoil will hit the stage this New Year’s Eve at Lovin’ Cup. Subsoil will celebrate the release of its new EP, while showcasing its hip-hop fusion sounds. The Buddhahood will bring a blend of reggae, rock, blues and more to the stage. Dinner specials will give patrons a sneak peek at the 2013 entrée menu, and will include half-roast chicken, char-grilled sirloin and roasted pork shoulder entrees for $12.95 each — all served with sides.

New Year’s Eve Celebration Packages from Woodcliff Hotel and Spa

This hotel and spa, a stone’s throw from Eastview Mall, will feature New Year’s Eve celebration packages. The silver package includes overnight accommodations for two, a fireworks display and champagne toast at midnight with hats and noisemakers, and continental breakfast and champagne brunch the following day. Other packages are available.

New Year’s Eve Dinner and a Movie at the George Eastman House

While the rest of the world takes a leap forward into the New Year, take a step back in time with a double feature of classic films To Catch a Thief (with Grace Kelly and Cary Grant) and Desire (with Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper), following a dinner in the café. The menu will include chicken Marsala with pasta, or beef stroganoff over rice, with sides. Gelato or popcorn are included. Call for reservations.

Kevin Meaney at the Comedy Club

This Emmy-award winning comedian will bring the laughs this New Year’s Eve for two shows at 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Meaney has been featured on a number of TV shows, including Uncle Buck, Dr. Katz, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Garfield and Friends and Rocko’s Modern Life. The late show will include a champagne toast at midnight. Reservations are requested.

When: 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday.

Cost: $15 for the early show; $20 for the late show.

New Year’s Eve Beer Dinner at The Old Toad

This authentic British pub will feature a New Year’s dinner with optional beer pairing. Entree options will include beer-braised short rib, swordfish, pork tenderloin and wild mushroom and nut Wellington. Reservations are requested. Seatings will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. A champagne toast at 7 p.m. will mark the British New Year.
