When you’re looking for a night out with no surprises, nothing beats those classic townie bars. Our town bar tour continues with a stop in Gates.
We’ve compiled a list below of local hotspots to grab a drink, some pub grub and catch up with old friends.
Rookies Sports Bar & Grill
This Buffalo Road sports bar sponsors 30 softball leagues, 10 kickball leagues, 10 dart leagues and five bowling leagues. Visitors can keep busy with pool, darts and MegaTouch or catch the game on one of 12 projection screen TVs or eight 60-inch screens. Feast on nachos, wings, quesadillas, pizzas and more, and stop by for $4 mixed drinks and $3.50 domestic/$4.50 import 23-ounce drafts Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. DJ spins Saturday nights.

Tip back a few too many and you might get lost in this place. Pineapple Jack’s has a full stage area to listen to live bands most Friday and Saturday nights, a full dining area with an adjacent bar/karaoke area, a second floor to people watch and a full 2,000-sq.-ft. cigar lounge and bar. The indoor smoking section is very unique to the area. If those drinks make you feel brave enough, grab a mike for karaoke nights, Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Gates Pub Bar & Grill
Everything on this sports bar’s menu is homemade, including wraps, steak hoagies, fish fry, burgers, wings and more. Check out a local blues band every Wednesday and karaoke every Friday and Saturday. Enjoy $5 pitchers on select beers during NFL games on one of 14 flat screens. Pool and darts are also available at this bar.

The Infield Sports Bar & Grill
Wednesday night is taco night at Infield, with $1 beef tacos from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and $4 Coronas to wash them down. Happy Hour is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and features $7 domestic pitchers, $2 domestic drafts and $3 well drinks. This bar’s menu also includes prime rib subs, and buttermilk-fried chicken sandwiches.

This tavern-style bar has a downstairs area that’s available for parties and is also open Friday and Saturday nights when crowds get thick. Menu includes quesadillas, pulled pork sliders, fajitas and Guinness beef stew. Darts, video golf and 21 TVs including four 110-inch projection screens can be found at the bar.
