If you don’t want to end up singing “Auld Lang Syne” to your dog when the ball drops, venture out to one of the many dinner, theater, music or sports events around Rochester to welcome 2014. We’ve compiled a list of options below. (Just remember to call ahead for reservations if applicable; many of the events below sold out last year.)

New Year’s Eve at the Cup

Seven-piece funk-soul group Shine will keep Lovin’ Cup patrons on their feet this New Year’s Eve. The first 100 patrons in the door after 8 p.m. will receive a free pint glass, and their first pint of beer will be on the house. Three-course dinner specials will be available as well as a champagne toast at midnight.

Ring it in with the Regency

The Hyatt Regency Rochester will ring in 2014 with a party in its ballroom. Party packages will include an open bar, dinner, party favors and champagne toast at midnight. The hotel is also offering a package that includes a night’s stay in the hotel and breakfast.

When: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Cost: $100 per person for party; $349 per couple for party and overnight stay.

Big Wigs … Divas Las Vegas

Drag queen duo Kasha Davis and Aggy Dune will perform at the JCC’s Hart Theatre this New Year’s Eve, bringing their best celebrity impersonations. The show will run 85 to 95 minutes with no intermission. Get your tickets in advance, because this event sold out last year.

Where: 1200 Edgewood Ave., Brighton.

When: 9 p.m. Tuesday.

New Year’s Eve at the Radisson Riverside

Pop-rock cover act Cherry Bomb and DJs from Encore Entertainment will perform at Radisson Riverside’s New Year’s event. A dinner buffet will be available as well as a five-hour open bar. Overnight packages are also available and include breakfast the following morning.

Where: 120 E. Main St.

When: 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Cost: $95 per person or $195 per couple for party-only package; $155 per person or $265 per couple overnight packages.

Convention Center party and fireworks

The night will begin inside the Rochester Riverside Convention Center, featuring a dance party steered by DJ Jimmy C. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Family-fun activities will include a giant bounce house, climbing wall, obstacle course, magician, stilt walker and caricaturists. At 9:50 p.m., guests will gather just outside the center to watch the city’s fireworks show.

Capitol Steps

This nationally acclaimed company, which has performed for five presidents, will bring its political satire to Nazareth College’s Callahan Theater this New Year’s Eve. Audiences can expect song parodies and skits poking fun at political events and personalities.

When: 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Cost: $60 to $75.

New Year’s Eve Prix Fixe Dinner

The menu for the Owl House’s New Year’s Eve dinner will be largely gluten-free and offer some vegan options. The four-course meal will include a prosecco toast and an option for wine pairing. Choose from scallops, steak or a vegetarian main course.

When: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Cost: $55 per person; $70 with wine pairing.

RazorSharks’ Home Opener

The RazorSharks will play the first game of their basketball season at the Blue Cross Arena on New Year’s Eve. Cheer on the home team as they face the Buffalo 716ers. Also keep your eyes open for mascot Finley and the LadySharks.

When: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday.

New Year’s Eve Party at Tilt

In attendance at Tilt’s party this year will be the Tilt-A-Whirl drag queens, DJ Mighty Mic and 98PXY’s Megan Carter. Every drink will be $2.50 until 11:30 p.m. Stay for the $1,500 confetti prize blast at 1 a.m. and the free continental breakfast at 2:30 a.m. Free hats, horns and noisemakers will be passed around.

When: 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Cost: $10 for ages 21 and older; $20 for ages 18 to 20.

Kevin Meaney at the Comedy Club

This Emmy Award winner will bring his brand of physical humor, impersonations and signature “man on the street” interviews to the Comedy Club to celebrate the New Year. Meaney has been featured on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, The Late Show with David Letterman, Oprah and more.

When: 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Cost: $20.

Family fun for YMCA members

The Southeast YMCA will host a family-friendly event this New Year’s Eve, starting with a pizza and salad dinner. Following dinner, family crafts, games, roller skating, bounce houses, a piñata and cotton candy will be available. Prizes will be raffled off, including a one-year membership to the Seneca Park Zoo. All proceeds will benefit the YMCA Invest In Youth campaign.

When: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Cost: $12 a person or $45 per family for members before Dec. 28; $16 a person and $60 a family after Dec. 28.

Prix fixe menu at Mario’s Italian Steakhouse

Mario’s will feature a five-course prixe fixe menu for the holiday. Main course options include beef tenderloin, broiled salmon, roasted chicken breast, and artichoke and fontina cheese ravioli. Vegetarian options will be available, and most dietary needs can be met.
